I have just turned 27 on August 24th. It is the perfect opportunity to reflect and share my gathered philosophical and psychological insights. Indeed, over the years, I’ve learned many truths through trial and error and from various people I have encountered during my journey on this Earth. These experiences have profoundly shaped who I am today. Today, I want to share the top 27 philosophical lessons I learned so far that I would like to share with my younger self, some of which I learned the hard way. I hope sharing them with you can save you from some challenges. However, some challenges are needed to accept the hard truth sometimes. Additionally, when you try to avoid pain, you invite more of it later on. I hope this list inspires you to live a more meaningful life filled with joyous moments.
Here’s the list of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned:
- Stop porn altogether; it has similar effects to cocaine on your brain.
- Treat yourself as a person for whom you would be responsible.
- Treat others with the love and truth you want them to give you.
- Be courageous to tell the truth; even omitting can have unintended consequences.
- The more you fear a project, the more fulfillment you will find in it. Start it now and let your creativity flow.
- Read every day; your ancestors fought so you could access this knowledge.
- You need God. Walk with gratitude towards Him every day.
- Be mindful of good posture; it’s excellent for your musculoskeletal health and serotonin. It makes you look confident. Flat shoes can help you maintain proper alignment.
- The biggest challenge of your life will transform into your greatest blessing. The greater the lesson, the greater the insights.
- Train at a leisurely pace without data on most days. When it’s an interval day, push yourself.
- Choose friends with the same mindset that there is a greater good to pursue in life and that we must fulfill our potential to feel great and help the world.
- Drink plenty of high-quality water; it’s your body’s way to dilute toxins.
- Eat only from what you can pick on a tree, grows from the ground, or has a mother. Ok, maybe not the last part if you are a vegetarian.
- Sex before marriage is useless. Why waste your time if you don’t consider that person a future spouse? Also, it’s a perfect opportunity to show your ability to delay gratification.
- Judge people by their actions, not their words. Don’t be fooled by looks.
- Contemplate your mortality; let the inevitability of death inspire a meaningful life.
- Breathe deeply with your diaphragm.
- Take full responsibility for your life situation.
- The only thing that you know is that you know nothing. Learn for life!
- Quit social media; it’s garbage engineered to keep your attention so that they make money.
- Always listen to the other person as they know things you don’t know. Be humble. Humble is intelligent.
- Start investing now, and make learning personal finance a priority.
- Ask for feedback from your friends; improvement ideas are everywhere.
- Be vulnerable. Why wouldn’t you want to live life fully?
- Lead by example; your actions have more impact on others than you think.
- If you don’t know something, ask. The most competent people are those who aren’t afraid to reveal their ignorance.
- Stop masturbating; it’s the key to overcoming procrastination.
So, this is the list I would give to my young self. I hope you enjoyed it. Of course, the younger self is always stubborn, but then God sends a challenge on your path to make you realize that you are wrong, and then you have no choice but to admit your ignorance. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in your life: adulthood. Based on what I mentioned, I encourage you to ask yourself: What’s one thing you can do today to live more authentically, aligned with your soul’s true purpose?
